The graininess of the darkest parts of the above image are imposed partially through the
truncation of the dark grey part of the greyscale through the exportation of the screen
into GIF format. Specifically, since a portion of the 256 colors are being allocated to the
title bar and tool palette, the transitions between dark greys as represented are not as smooth as in the real picture, below:
