Roger Solano is an Associate Professor at the Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania School of Business, in the areas of Operations Management, Total Quality Management, Organizational Behavior, and Statistics. His lectures are highly interactive with a strong emphasis in hands on learning, problem solving, and teamwork.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from La
Universidad del Zulia (Venezuela), a Master in Science and Doctorate
degrees in Industrial Engineering from New Jersey Institute of
Technology. He has a strong background in business and information
Before joining Slipery Rock University he worked at Universidad Rafael Belloso Chacin (Venezuela), La Universidad del Zulia (Venezuela), New Jersey Institute of Technology, and Missouri University of Science and Technology. His expertise is in mathematical modeling and optimization.
Prior to his academic career he worked as a production engineer at Cerveceria Regional (Venezuela) where he was also involved in the implementation of ERP systems. Afterwards, he started a managerial career at HIDROLAGO, where he developed and managed the capital investment budget and was responsible for the business intelligence and performance indicators for the whole corporation. He has worked as a consultant for different companies.
He has also been strongly involved in outreach programs improving science education in the state of New Jersey, with emphasis in inner city public schools.
Professor Solano’s current areas of interest include Supply Chain
Management, Enterprise Resource Planning, Quantitative Modeling and
Optimization for the Service Industry, and incorporating social
networks to the learning experience.
