Weather Journal for Drs. Snow and Stapleton

Example page for a weather journal. There will be two observations per page with one observation for each class day. Thus week 1-page 1, week 2-page 2.... If you have any question, please ask. Observations
The labels in black must always be written and underlined as shown on the right. They include;

  • Date: date of observation, include day, month, & year
  • Time: time of observation, use military time (HHMM), i.e., 8 am is 0800, 8 pm is 2000 and use local time (EST or EDT)
  • Location: location of the observation
  • Comment (PO): your Personal Observations, include description of temperature, humidity, precipitation, clouds, etc.

Station Model
Draw a box, six lines square, for the station model. The station model should be drawn inside the box and include the following;

  • Temperature (F)
  • Dew point (F)
  • Pressure (mb)
  • Sky coverage (tenths)
  • Wind speed
  • Wind direction (Note: Winds are named for the direction from which they blow. In the figures in the right, the wind on August 22, 2005 is from the southeast and on August 24, 2005, the wind is from the east.
