| The high jump |
The high jump technique that is mostly done is the fosbury flop. The idea is that the athlete runs in a J pattern towards the high jump mat, their take off begins when they are about a foot and a half away from the mat. The have a 45 degree lean into the mats, and the throw their shoulders back, hips up and head back. This is the hardest of all three jumps to learn, but very exciting. |
| The triple jump |
The triple jump is a combination of three elements. The cycle, bound, and a jump. The cycle is basically running only usign one leg, the leg cycles through, as if you are riding a bike. The bound is almost like a leap but you want your front thigh to be parallel to the ground, and your back calf parallel to the ground. The last stage of the triple jump is the leap, and it is basically a long jump into the pit, and there are different ways of doing this. |

The long jump |
The long jump is a jump off of the board and you land in the sand pit. There are many different ways to do this, there are many techniques. The technique that you choose to do, really depends on you preference. Most younger jumpers prefer the hang technique as opposed to the hitch kick, which is a continue run through the air. The hang technique is basically just a hang through the air. |
