This calendar is prospective because it is the model we will follow, though it may change during the term as we decide on readings. All chapters refer to Wheelock's Latin (6th ed., rev.) unless otherwise stated. During this first term, we should be optimally complete up to chapter 16 or 17, up to the point where Wheelock introduces relative pronouns and relative clauses.
We will meet three times per week, and you will need to put in an hour or so every day to do well in this course. The need for this regular work is inescapable. During this first term you will be learning basic sentence structure and also memorizing a number of basic paradigms: learning these well requires regular practice--just like learning a musical instrument. Putting in regular time is also like investing money in the bank: the more you put in regularly, the better off you will be in the future for having these forms in your head to spend when you need them.
