About images

Images: Why use images?

Before scanning or using any images on pages you create, please be aware that Section 102 of Title 17 of US law (as provided here by the Cornell law school) provides (among other things) that

Copyright protection subsists, in accordance with this title, in original works of authorship fixed in any tangible medium of expression, now known or later developed, from which they can be perceived, reproduced, or otherwise communicated, either directly or with the aid of a machine or device.

See more on copyright.

It is also considered a violation of standard notions of academic honesty to use the work of others without proper attribution.

With this in mind, how can one use images and still be legal?

Okay, with all the talk about pix aside, now, how to do use an image in html?
To create images, see notes on Adobe Photoshop and other material.
