Basics of Scanning (using the scanners in the IT lab)
| 1. Start the scanning software (HP PrecisionScan Pro) | ![]() |

| 2. With your picture on the scanner glass, preview the picture. The lamp and motor should come on. The image should appear on-screen. | ![]() |

| 3. Draw a marquis around the area of interest. Next use CTRL C to copy to the clipboard. This will, probably, result in a rescan of the image (complete with lit lamp and whirring motor). | ![]() |

4. Save (usually in jpg format for color photos, usually in gif format for greyscale images). Use either |
4a. Open Photoshop and paste the image into it. Flatten. Resize (under Image/size) and retouch as appropriate. Save. | ![]() |
